Dorchester County Animal Control officers seeking information after puppy found abandoned in crate

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Animal Control officers are looking for answers after a puppy was found abandoned in a crate along a Dorchester County roadside.

Dorchester County Animal Control responded to a Friday afternoon call regarding a puppy who was found off Clubhouse Road about 1.5 miles west of the Delemar Highway and Clubhouse Road intersection.

County officials say the puppy was stuck inside an overturned wire dog crate. She was underweight with heavily soiled fur and nails.

Animal Control officers took the puppy into their custody for care. Michelle Mills, a spokesperson for the county, said the dog is doing well and recovering at Dorchester Paws. We’re told the puppy’s adoption has already been reserved.

Dorchester County’s animal control officers are actively looking for the person responsible for dumping the puppy. They ask that anyone who may have information about the dog or possible owner call Dorchester County Animal Control at 843-832-0015.
