Search for Charleston man missing in Mexico shifts to recovery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The search for a Charleston man missing in Mexico has shifted from rescue to recovery, according to family members.

Brad Solomon, 66, went missing a little over a week ago while on a cruise in Cozumel.

Solomon’s sister-in-law, Ashley Hyer-Miller told News 2 on Friday that family members had organized a large group of volunteers to search for the missing man along with help from the military.

“The military has been looking- they sent people over yesterday. Sent some dogs over yesterday, currently my family members and my husband are out on ATVs looking in some remote areas,” she said.

Solomon was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a type of degenerative disorder that affects a person’s behavior, rather than memory.

After shopping at the Port of Cozumel, Solomon and his wife went to use the restroom. When his wife came out of the women’s bathroom, she never saw Solomon walk out. He’s been missing ever since.

Family members said an AirTag on Solomon had also gone silent and stopped pinging.

Solomon’s wife and some family members will remain in the country as they search for their loved one and seek answers.
