Play at Credit One Stadium delayed to 4pm due to rain

UPDATE: Organizers for Credit One Charleston Open pushed back the start time for Wednesday’s tournament again saying play will not begin before 4 p.m.

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Wednesday’s tennis tournament on Daniel Island has been delayed due to heavy rain in the area.

Gates at Credit One Charleston Open did not open at 10:00 a.m., and organizers say play will not begin before 2:00 p.m.

Caroline Wozniacki is set to play Anhelina Kalinina at 2:00 p.m. at the stadium, Victoria Azarenka and Elisabetta Cocciaretto are scheduled to meet on the Althea Gibson court at the same time.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected across the Charleston area as a strong cold front moved across the area; however, forecasters said the weather would likely begin to clear later into the afternoon.
