NCPD: 1 dead after collision on Rivers Ave.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department has closed Rivers Ave. eastbound at Melnick following a collision.

According to Harve Jacobs, North Charleston Police spokesperson, the collision occurred between a vehicle and a motorcycle around 10:30 a.m.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say traffic is being rerouted onto S. Antler Drive to Greenridge Road and then back to Rivers Ave.

The North Charleston traffic unit and Charleston County Coroner’s Office are investigating the accident.

Officers say to avoid the area.
