Coroner ID’s moped driver killed in I-526 collision

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner has identified the moped driver killed in a crash on I-526 on Jan. 13.

Dvonta Campbell, 27, from Charleston, was driving the moped on the westbound lanes of I-526 when he was hit by a motor vehicle at 10:52 p.m.

Campbell died on the scene from blunt force injuries due to the crash.

The crash happened between the Montague and Dorchester Road exits, and the lanes where the collision occurred were shut down until about 5 a.m. the following morning.

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating the incident.
