Pilot ejects from F-35 plane in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating after a pilot ejected from a plane Sunday afternoon in North Charleston.

Joint Base Charleston says they are working with local emergency personnel to respond to a “mishap” involving a Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort F-35 near North Charleston. 

According to officials, a pilot was found on South Kenwood Drive after safely ejecting from the passing plane and was transported to a local medical center.

His wingman, in another aircraft, safely landed at Joint Base Charleston.

Officials are working to locate the F-35.
