Men Dominate in Victory, Fortin Logs 2nd-Best 4K Time at CSU Invite

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern served as the backdrop for The Citadel’s season opener Friday morning at the Buccaneer Invite. The 6K men’s race offered perhaps an indication of the season to come, as Sam Sharnas tied the 6K program record to win the race, while his freshman cousin Owen Sharnas placed second to lead the Bulldogs to the team win with 30 points. Heidi Fortin led the women’s team in the 4K with her fourth-place finish, setting the second-fastest 4K time in program history.
