One lane reopens following multi-vehicle collision, fire on I-26 eastbound near Jedburg
UPDATE: One line of I-26 eastbound has reopened.
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation is working to clear the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that led to fires and the shut down of all lanes on I-26 eastbound near Jedburg.
Officials reported the incident just after 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning near Exit 194 between Jedburg and Nexton. According to SCHP Trooper Nick Pye, the collision involved nine vehicles including multiple tractor trailers.
Trooper Pye said only one person was hospitalized due to the collision and there are no fatalities.
Several agencies remain on the scene as they work to clear the area. All lanes remain closed. There is no word on when lanes will reopen at this time.
Westbound lanes are open, but moving slow causing some delay. Motorists should avoid the areas if possible.
