2nd Annual Holy Smokes Lowcountry Barbecue Festival

Aaron Siegel and Taylor Garrigan of Home Team BBQ, Anthony DiBernardo of Swig & Swine, and Robert Moss, the Contributing BBQ Editor for Southern Living, will host the 2nd annual Holy Smokes Lowcountry Barbecue Festival on Saturday, November 19th at Riverfront Park in North Charleston. The group has once again invited leaders of the barbecue community from around the country to come together in Charleston to celebrate the culture, history, and traditions of American barbecue.
This year’s event will feature many of the same legendary pitmasters who cooked at last year’s festival, as well as some new faces. A ticket to Holy Smokes Lowcountry Barbecue Festival gives you all-you-can-eat access to four barbecue villages, including the newly-added Coastal Village, which will highlight all things seafood. The event, which will run from 11 am to 4 pm, will also include live music.
The pitmasters will work together to prepare three plates in each village to showcase the variety of American barbecue. Guests can expect to taste slow smoked whole hog, pork and beef ribs, Texas-style brisket, smoked and grilled Lowcountry seafood, and much more. General admission tickets will include food from all four of the villages, and beverages will be available for purchase (or complementary with a VIP ticket). The all-inclusive VIP area will feature additional food and drinks from a team of award winning chefs.
In the inaugural year (2021), Holy Smokes donated $100,000 to Hogs for the Cause supporting families battling pediatric brain cancer, including families with children in pediatric oncology at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. Hogs for the Cause is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds to help alleviate some of the emotional and financial strain associated with treating pediatric brain cancer. Holy Smokes was also able to donate $10,000 to the Charleston Ronald McDonald House (RMHC), which is located across the street from MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. RMHC is a “home-away-from-home” where families can stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Attendees of this year’s event, while enjoying some of the best barbecue in the country, will continue to help make a difference for local families.
