Armed robbery suspects crash vehicle during chase; authorities searching for 3rd suspect

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Two suspects are in custody Wednesday night after wrecking a vehicle during a chase involving law enforcement, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said.

Two men and a woman who are suspected of robbing a motel using weapons were being chased by the Georgetown Police Department. That chase left city limits, and Georgetown County deputies took up pursuit on Highmarket Street.

Deputies set up stop sticks on Gapway Road near Garrison Road, causing the vehicle to crash and rollover. When the rollover happened, the two men fled while the woman was apprehended at the scene.

K9 Pelle was deployed to track the men. One of the male suspects was caught, while authorities believe the other is hiding in the woods.

The sheriff’s office advised residents of Gapway-Garrison Road to lock their windows and doors and remain alert. If they spot suspicious activity, they should call 911.

Anyone with further information on the situation is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 843-546-5102.
